10 years of being a Badger, and practicing the Wisconsin Idea after graduation, have materialized into a life I could have never imagined.
Freshman Derek would have never dreamed that he’d become Dr. Microplastics, create multiple science curricula, and even start a nonprofit centered around microplastics.
This evening, I’m honored to have received the Forward Alumni Award from University of Wisconsin-Madison. It’s surreal to look back and see where this journey has taken me, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of it.
